When I dove into the digital product world, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I simply saw an opportunity and said, “hey, I’ll try it.” To my shock and surprise, in the first 30 days, I made $8033 and got 277 paid leads from a $29 product I created once. That same offer has gone on to make me more than $288k.
The possibilities are truly endless. And I’m so determined to see this work for you too.
Instead of wishing and dreaming for diversified income, more leads, and a future where you sell digital products…
Create that reality TODAY.
Let’s fast-track your results. Join our one-day challenge to go from idea to launch post in just one day.
What is a Digital Product?
A digital product is content created, distributed, and consumed exclusively online. These intangible, non-physical media pieces—such as images, videos, documents, eBooks, templates, audio files, and online courses—can be sold and distributed repeatedly without the need for physical inventory.
High-quality digital products primarily aim to educate the user or solve a specific problem. The best part? Anyone can create one!
Ready to dive in? Start by considering the challenges your ideal client faces. What knowledge or solution do they need before engaging with your other offerings? Creating a product that addresses these needs not only helps them now, but also primes them to purchase your other offers in the future.
Types of Digital Products
Some common categories or types of products you’ll see include:
Guides & Roadmaps: detailed instructions or strategies for achieving specific goals, typically delivered in a pdf or document format
Templates: pre-made documents or designs that customers can use and customize, much like the thousands we have at The Creative Template Shop.
Mini-Courses: short, focused educational programs that teach specific skills or knowledge, like our program, Launch in a Box
Profitable Digital Product Examples
Here are a few digital products my students launched recently…
Melissa launched “My Writing Portfolio: Digital Journaling for Kids”
SaBali launched “Getting Unstuck After Trauma”
Lee launched “Reading Fun Sheets”
Jen launched “Ultimate Guide to Equine Massage Certification”
Abby launched “Break Away from Bootstrapping”
Elena launched “Customer Feedback Guide”

Why Create Your Own Digital Products
Before I dive into the steps to create and launch your own digital product, here are a few reasons why you might consider adding it as an additional income stream inside your business:
Low Overhead, High-Profit Margin
Running a digital product business is one of the most cost-effective models out there. You'll enjoy significantly lower overhead and staffing costs compared to traditional agency-style services. For instance, our team of just four full-time staff runs a 7-figure business. Many of my peers have achieved similar success either solo or with part-time contract help.
This means your business is easier to manage with fewer expenses, meaning you can keep more in your pocket. Who doesn’t love higher profit margins? Imagine margins as high as 90% of the sale price—pretty amazing, right? Even fully scaled educational businesses usually see profit margins closer to 20-30%.
Unlike eCommerce or traditional physical products, you won't have to worry about production delays or the hefty costs associated with manufacturing and shipping. Digital products eliminate these headaches, allowing you to focus on what truly matters: delivering value to your clients and scaling your business to create more sustainable income.
Build It Once, Keep Generating Sales
I love utilizing digital products as an entry-point offer because you can build it once and sell it again and again. Not only do you get paid for each sale, but you also build your list of qualified leads in the process. It’s a win-win-win!
Yes, creating a digital product is an investment of time and resources upfront, but once it’s done, it can be sold an infinite number of times with little to no additional cost. Each sale contributes to your bottom line without requiring further effort, giving you space to create more products or scale your marketing efforts.
Create Authority
Become the go-to expert in your niche! When customers purchase and benefit from your digital product, they start to see you as a trusted source of valuable information. This not only leads to repeat sales but also opens up exciting opportunities for upselling and cross-selling other products or services. Imagine your customers eagerly awaiting your next release because they know you consistently deliver the goods. Now that's influence!
Scalability
Leverage a low-priced digital product to see real growth. Attract ideal clients and seamlessly align them with your subsequent offers. Collect their contact information (valuable for future sales), demonstrate real value, and earn their trust—all while getting paid upfront for your online marketing efforts.
Not to mention, someone who buys from you once is 7x more likely to buy from you again. This opens the door to repeat customers and with each sale increases the likelihood of future sales.
Unlike many other revenue streams, selling digital products compounds your efforts. It typically takes the same amount of resources and time to sell one product as it does to sell hundreds or even thousands. Once you achieve a solid conversion rate, your focus shifts from product management to driving traffic to your offer. Meaning your main task becomes attraction marketing. As a small business owner, I see this as the fun stuff!
The #1 Mistake People Make When Picking Their Digital Product Idea
The biggest mistake I see businesses make with this is creating a digital product that requires a commitment from the purchaser. Before you’re like *duh, that’s the whole point,* hear me out.
You could have total buy-in from a warm audience. But if they get caught up in their heads and convince themselves they can’t do it, then you not only have to sell them the product, you also have to convince them they are capable!
And that’s like selling twice.
Instead, you need to spark ⚡️ their curiosity with a no-brainer offer that nearly guarantees their problem is solved. Honestly, the simpler, the better.
Think of products that let them explore a topic instead of committing to it…
For example:
Instead of a 30-day yoga plan, where someone has to decide they are going to commit and do it every day…
How about creating a product that includes 20 poses that help with relaxation and posture, and allows someone to explore yoga 🧘 without the pressure of anything more.
My SIMPLEST digital products always ALWAYS have more sales!
How to Go From Idea to Launch in Just One Day
Before I fully break this down for you, here’s the quick and dirty:
AUDIENCE: Who are you going to help? If you have an existing business this is your ideal client!
OFFER: What problems can you solve for them in minutes or hours? Like nearly do for them? Think template, script, checklist, guide. You want to provide instant value.
SPEED: Pick the problem you can solve the fastest and most completely.
SALES: Write a short sales page that covers what it is, who it’s for, the dream outcome they get from it and the details of when you can deliver it on beta.
PAYMENT: Set up a way to collect payment and load a placeholder product that shares more about what customers can expect to receive once presales close and you hit your beta date.
LAUNCH: Post your announcement and start marketing!
Note: This is a tad oversimplified. But I want to walk you through it step-by-step, give you all the details, and provide templates and scripts for every piece of the puzzle.
I even partnered with Teachable to give you access to the tech and tools to host it, create your sales page, and have people check out.

How to Choose Your No-Brainer Digital Product Idea
Choose a product that solves a specific problem for your ideal client quickly and effectively. The idea should require minimal commitment from the customer while providing instant value. I like to see the client “win” in minutes or hours (maybe days), but not weeks, months, or years.
Pick an idea you are confident you can execute on without any additional training or research. This should be something that comes second nature to you - and is potentially so obvious you never even considered it in the first place.
Ultimately, the first digital product you create is likely not the last. Don’t feel like you are marrying this decision forever. Inside our one-day challenge, I walk you through how to generate a list of profitable ideas and narrow these down quickly.
Setup Your Product Host & Payment Processor
When it comes to hosting and selling your digital product, there are countless options out there, but finding the right platform can make all the difference. Personally, I’ve found incredible success with Teachable. You don’t stay loyal to a platform for 8 years without it being a standout product. Here are a few of the reasons I choose them to host and sell my offers:
Intuitive User Experience
Teachable excels in providing an intuitive user interface that's easy to navigate—on both the seller and user sides. You ALREADY know what to do without a tour or walkthrough, it seriously feels second nature. Their drag-and-drop builder simplifies the process of setting up digital product listings, creating courses, uploading videos, and customizing your sales pages without requiring any technical skills.
Engaging Features
Teachable includes interactive features like quizzes, course completion certificates, and progress tracking. These tools make the learning experience engaging and help you monitor student progress.
Sleek Design and Mobile Friendly
I’m gonna say it. A lot of the other options out there are UGLY. I don’t need to name names for you to know what I mean. I want my student’s experience to feel aligned with all the other pieces of my brand. Teachable’s style blends seamlessly into what we’re already doing with our websites and brand. Plus, with their updated mobile app, students can access content on the go, enhancing accessibility.
Flexible Payment Options
Teachable supports multiple payment methods, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and credit/debit cards. It also offers your buyers (if you choose to toggle it on) buy now, pay later features with top companies like Affirm, Afterpay, and Klarna. You can set up various payment structures, such as one-time purchases, payment plans, or subscriptions. Note: I typically make all digital products, specifically one-time purchases, but having this flexibility allows me to house all my digital offers in one place.
Reliable and Supportive
Teachable is dependable with minimal downtime and responsive customer support. This reliability allows you to focus on creating and selling digital products without platform-related worries.
Value Aligned
I realize this won’t be a deciding factor for every business out there. But I’ve had the opportunity to get to know their team 1:1, and see how they operate and support the creator economy. The team at Teachable is family. They operate as an extension of my team. And I know when I put my clients in their hands, they will be supported and cared for.

Get Paid BEFORE You Build Your Offer
Imagine getting paid before you even start creating your digital product. Sounds amazing, right? Pre-selling your digital product is a savvy strategy to validate your idea and secure funds before investing time and resources into its creation.
Pre-sales are common in many industries but have been slow to catch on in the digital product space. Think about it: a restaurant doesn't prepare your meal until you order it, and a contractor won't start building your house without a contract and a down payment. Why should digital products be any different?
By pre-selling, you can gauge interest and demand for your product, ensuring you're creating something your audience truly wants. Plus, you get immediate feedback that can be invaluable in refining your offer. This approach not only mitigates the risk of spending time on a product that might not sell, but also provides upfront capital to support your development process.
In our one-day challenge, I guide you through the steps of setting up a successful pre-sale campaign, from crafting a compelling pitch to collecting payments and managing customer expectations. This method ensures you're on the right track and sets you up to confidently continue promotion.
Pricing Your Digital Product
Setting the right price is key to achieving your income goals. Let’s break it down: if you want to make an extra $1,000 in two weeks, it’s all about the math.
To hit $1,000 in two weeks, you need to make less than $72 a day. Here’s how you could achieve that:
Sell a $29 digital product 3x a day.
Sell a $47 digital product 2x a day.
Sell a $77 digital product 1x a day.
There isn’t a one-size-fits-all “right” price. The key is to choose a number you feel confident about. Just keep in mind, the lower the price, the more volume you need to generate to bring in the same amount of cash.
Consider the effort and time it takes for your clients to see results. The quicker they see results, the higher the perceived value of your product will be. Consider pricing your digital product under $100 to make your offer a total no-brainer.
In our one-day challenge, I share specific pricing strategies and delve deeper into this topic, providing you with all the tools you need to price your digital products effectively and confidently.
