How to Host Co-working Sessions to Boost Productivity in Your Business

When you have a team that works from home or any sort of virtual community space, it can be a little more difficult to make sure everyone is being productive. One way we’ve been able to set accountability and give that much needed support to each other is by holding co-working sessions.

Co-working sessions are when you, a team member, or even your whole team hop on a group video chat (we prefer Zoom) to literally work together. Back when Boss Project was just Abagail and Emylee, we’d often hop on Zoom or Google Hangouts to complete tasks together. We’d hang out for hours on end, sometimes a whole working day just to hold each other accountable.

Now, we want to share how we host efficient co-working sessions to boost productivity in our business!

The Value of Co-working Sessions

Co-working sessions allow you to meet the needs of what a workspace would be like if it was physical. You’re able to help each other stay accountable, focused, limit distractions, eliminate procrastination, and overall get that much needed connection and facetime.

We’re all human, and when left to our own devices, it can be all too easy to put things off or take a longer to complete them due to multitasking or distractions. For many people, they need the structure and solidity of having a dedicated time with others for the purpose of completing tasks and projects, and there’s nothing wrong with that! We think it’s most important that everyone feels happy, productive, and in their best mindset when working.

There’s also no minimum or maximum to how many people can co-work together. You could hop on with just one person like we used to do, you can invite a handful of people, or you could host a co-working session with an entire community! The possibilities are endless.

How to Make the Most of Co-working Sessions

We recommend breaking your working times out in chunks with small breaks in between to be able to ask questions, chat, eat lunch together, stretch, do breathing exercises, etc. Very few people are able to sit down and work for hours at a time without their brain turning to mush. It’s just science.

We like to co-work for about 30 minutes, then regroup for a 5-10 minute break to chat and ask questions, then repeat a couple more times. Although having 30 minute chunks may not seem like a very long time, you’d be surprised at the amount of tasks you can check off your todo list when you have others right alongside you working and holding you accountable!

Using Co-working Sessions in an Online Community Space

Co-working sessions don’t just have to be used for a virtual team. If you have any sort of online community space, try them out! We host twice monthly 90-minute co-working sessions for our members of The Co-op (structured the same way we broke down above).

While we preach all day long about how important it is to take action and implement our templates if you want to see results, we know it’s easier said than done. So, we always try to go the extra mile to give them what they need, and hosting co-working sessions has given them the extra kick in the pants to be intentional about using our templates. It’s also allowed them to come ask questions and get some much needed support from us and other members, reinforcing the community culture we strive to achieve.

If co-working sessions sound like something you would greatly benefit from (let’s be honest, everyone would benefit from them), then we encourage you to come join us in The Co-op! You’ll also unlock:

  • Unlimited downloads of every marketing template we have including new ones that drop each month

  • A private podcast feed called The Nugget that dives into the strategy behind every new release

  • Monthly strategy-based bonuses which are often PDF guides and video tutorials,

  • A members-only Facebook community where you can come to ask questions, share wins or roadblocks, seek support and guidance, and network with other entrepreneurs

You join right now for just $47/month. We hope to see you inside the community before our next co-working session!
