All the Woo-Woo Shiz We are Diggin'

Episode 230: Show Notes

Y'all know that we’re into some woo-woo shit. A big chunk of that woo-woo shit is essential oils – which we know you’ve already heard us talk about. But we have a whole lot of other woo-woo things that we do in our daily lives. Things like DIY cupping, getting Chinese foot massages, wearing crystals in our bras and going on family excursions to The Stinky Store. In this episode, we take you through an entertaining list of ten woo-woo things that make our lives better, that make us better, and in turn, make our business better.

In their own unique ways, these things help us to destress. They help us to keep our energy and our chakras in check. And ultimately, they keep us sane and weird, at the same time. So, if you’re looking for some tips, resources and advice on a few small things you can add to your daily life – then you’ve come to the right place. Come and take a look into our crystal ball and get woo with us – we know you want to! [Sexy radio voice].

Woo #1: Is Your Atlas Orthogonal In Alignment? Seeing A Chiropractor

For all intents and purposes, this is probably the least “woo” thing on the list. But after being in a lot of pain as an adult, Abbie literally got to a point where she would try anything to get rid of it. So this woo thing is about being in alignment. Not cracking your bones, but just simple adjustments have been really helpful for her. Every week, Abbie gets her Atlas Orthogonal (try say that backwards) put back in place once a week by a chiropractor. Abbie can now tell when her body is not in alignment and is aware of her posture in everyday life. It has helped her tremendously.

Woo #2: Why Not Get Your Body Whacked With A Chinese Foot Massage?

Emylee likes massages. Who doesn’t, right? But her favorite kind is a Chinese foot massage and she goes regularly to get one. Here, you go in (fully clothed), sit down, put your feet in a bucket of water and prepare to get whacked. Your limbs get pulled, you get rubbed, you get whacked and my god, it is glorious! They hit a lot of pressure points, all over your body, and these types of massages are a really quick, affordable way to get your issues worked out (or beat out depending on how you look at it). Be prepared to get your belly, or even your butt, rubbed too. It is so worth it!

Woo #3: Acupuncture and The Modern Day Miracle of Cupping

Emylee gets tension headaches that lead to migraines. The tension comes from her shoulder / neck area and when she is stressed out, it always forms in that spot. No matter what she does, it won’t go away. She wanted to try acupuncture to see if it would relieve it and so she bought a Groupon for three sessions and a consult. She went. She loved it. But after her last session, the tension was still not releasing. So, the therapist added cupping to the therapy. It changed her life. So much so, that she now owns her own personal set of cups. The cups are like silicon jellyfish. You put some lotion on them and then place them on the area you want to release. It sucks up your skin, you leave them on for 30 minutes and they say that 30 minutes of cupping is equivalent to an hour of deep-tissue.

Woo #4: Healing Crystals… Does It Hurt To Have Them Around?

Abbie got into crystals about two years ago. She first received them as a gift and didn’t think too much of them, aside from the fact that they looked great on her desk. But more and more people started telling her about crystals and their relation to oils. Recently, she went to a woo-woo shop to pick out 12 crystals that she needed to get and has mapped all the crystals out using images. She has also joined a crystals Facebook group and is getting deeper into this hobby. Emylee also recently went to a crystals and gemstones festival with her mom and she loved it. She has also been looking into crystals to help her with insomnia. Both Abbie and Emylee are not 100% sure that they believe in it, but it seems pretty reasonable to them. Like it can’t hurt to try, right? And besides, they look so beautiful! Everything that is grown from the earth, has a frequency, has an energy and if you’re near something – you absorb that.

Woo #5: Essential Oils and How You Can Join This Woo Side Of Our Lives

Both of us, as you know, are deep into our oils. Emylee reaches out to oils whenever she is having a problem that she needs to fix, before reaching out to some other remedy. We won’t deep fry you to much here on our oily antics, because we’ve spoken about it a lot on other episodes. But if you want to know more about our oily tribe just visit: simplyhomekc.com/community and join the woo side of life.

Woo #6: Keep Calm And Just Get The Calm App

Regardless of how woo you are, you need this to be chill. The Calm App will help you with stress, sleep, relaxation and Emylee has been on board with them for years. A veteran fan. They have master classes about certain meditation styles, yoga, sleep stories etc. And it totally beats falling asleep to CSI. Try it. Seriously.

Woo #7: Don’t Like Dusting Or Bad Vibes? Then Get Salt Lamps

Salt lamps fall into the woo realm of crystals but with salt lamps, you can literally see them working. The particular Himalayan salt lamps that Emylee has, take out negative ions... or something like that. Clearly, this is not a very scientific episode but basically the lamps keep the vibe more chill and eliminate a lot of dust. So if you don’t like dusting, then for that reason alone, you should put them on every surface you own... like four on your dresser.

Woo #8: Chakras People, Chakras

We aren’t sure just how much we buy into it but either way, we think it’s fascinating to learn about. That is, chakras people, chakras. You have seven of them and they are different parts of your body that control different habits and all the bullshit that you’re into, basically. So Abbie got interested in chakras when she was exploring the things she needed to get over in order to move forward in her leadership and in business. A certain step she needed to take was related to a certain chakra, and that was her heart chakra. There are also certain oils and certain crystals that help with certain chakras. Like Rose Quartz for example. So Abbie made sure she was surrounding herself with these things and even, dare we say, wore a crystal in her bra one day. Woo! Emylee’s mom on the other hand is certified in Reiki, and has done a few treatments on her, where she educated Emylee on chakras. So it’s in the back of her mind too...

Woo #9: Sync The Pain Away With A TENS Unit Device

Emylee uses a TENS unit device every single day. It is an electrical stimulation device with sticky pads that syncs to currents which help release your muscles. You can use them at home, buy them off Amazon and Emylee swears that they are amazing. Headaches, tension, stress, cramps – you name it, this thing soothes it.

Woo #10: Go To Your Stinky Store And Try New Produce

Last, but certainly not least on the woo-woo list, is The Stinky Store. Emylee’s mom is a super hippie and ever since she was young, they would go to the “Sticky Store,” to get her her herbal supplements. Do you know the smell we’re talking about? That smell when you walk into a vitamin store… and it just stinks. Emylee’s mom would drag her along to The Stinky Store to pick out her remedies and Emylee swore then and there that she would never make her own child do this! And now here she is, about to preach to you to go to the Stinky Store and get your all-natural powders, for yourself and for your kids. Like she does. Yep, her baby daughter is on the kale and berry smoothie train too. Abbie doesn’t go to The Stinky Store per say, but she loves going to health shops and trying out new fruits, new veggies and new healthy goods. But when you don’t feel like heading over to The Stinky Store, then you can always try Young Living, like we do. Link below!
