From First-Time Struggles to Finally Finding Success

As a single mom starting out in real estate, Priya looked forward to a new sense of flexibility and freedom. Then she got into it, and quickly realized she had no idea what she was doing or how to run a business. Everyone’s advice seemed very much the same, and none of it sparked joy for her in any way. As a single mom trying to build a business from scratch, the strategies she found were all built for people in different circumstances. It just didn’t work.

But as soon as she dropped all the side jobs and chose to go 100% all in, she hit six figures. A big part of that success was starting to build her business in a way that felt right to her. She started building authentic lead-building strategies and honed in on her true strengths. Her main takeaway? There’s no one framework. You have to build and run your business in a way that feels right to you. As soon as Priya had that mindset shift, everything changed for her.

The Moment That Changed The Way Priya Operates Forever

In 2019, Priya gave birth to her son. After a difficult pregnancy, she was induced, and everything stopped. To make a long story short, she nearly died. She was taken to the ICU and spent the first few days of her son’s life away from him. These were the scariest moments of her life, and she never could have imagined them. While she was being induced, she received a text message from a friend with a new client referral.

Because she had no systems in place at that point, Priya ended up showing a property a mere four days after coming out of ICU. She was still in the diaper that you wear after delivery and nursed her son in the car right after the viewing. She felt overwhelmed despite the support that she had. This moment made her rethink what she was doing, and if the cost was worth it. Realizing what she would have to sacrifice launched her into making some major decisions.

Finding Flow Through Systems and Support

Priya was too passionate about real estate to give it up. But she had to redo the whole way that she operates. The first thing she did was find a way to simplify her approach to business. Then, she brought in support. As soon as she focused on the things that were most important to her, she became more creative and ambitious. Systems and support have created the flow she needs.

Letting go didn’t come easy. She had to trust that the person she was handing her work baby to would be an extension of her, help her serve her clients, and handle her business. Hiring client-facing support was the hardest part! But she quickly learned that when you lead people and you do a good job of training them, you have to trust that you have set them up for success.

Short-Term Sacrifices For Long-Term Goals

So, how did Priya and her husband go from being thousands of dollars in debt to hiring support and growing a successful business? They cut their expenses! Every extra dollar went to paying off their debt. She also hired a coach to help her make some essential mindset shifts necessary to get comfortable with hiring someone new. Priya didn’t have the money to make new hires. But she chose to bet on herself.

For six months, it was piece by piece, day by day. She went from having a hot mess of a situation to more than tripling her income in one year, all because she took the leap. Priya believed that her short-term sacrifices would support her long-term goals. Her takeaway? It gets easier, but you have to do the work first! You have to go through the tall grass to get to the pasture.

Future-Focus and Wisdom For The Journey

Priya is most proud of the example she is setting for her kids. They see her at her lows, and they see her at her highs, but they don’t ever see her quit. Both her and her husband instil in her children the knowledge that nobody is perfect. We are all going to have hard seasons in life, but we don’t stop trying. She is living a life that she designed for herself and for her family, and she is teaching her kids that they can do the same.

She and her husband have just launched their first Airbnb! Their vision for the future is more freedom, however different that may look in ten years to what it looks like today. But choosing how and where they spend their time and doing things that actually make them happy is their definition of freedom. Being open to receiving whatever life has in store is her vision.

For anyone listening to this who is struggling right now, please feel free to reach out. I am here to support you! Priya’s story is a reminder that happiness and freedom are waiting for you on the other side. She used to think these things were all reserved for other people, but when she took a chance on herself, everything changed. The hard work is worth it!
