Episode 364: Show Notes
Today on the show we are so happy to welcome back Christine McAlister! If you are not already familiar with Christine, she helps high achievers replace income and continue to grow their businesses and be generally awesome! This episode is a look behind the scenes on coaching, group courses and one-on-one programs. We want to help you decide which might be the right one for you at any particular time. All of us on the show believe that different times require specific approaches, the trick is to know what you need and then follow that path to success!
In order to do this, you need to establish expectations and clarify your goals. This relaxed conversation will feature all of us sharing our opinions and experiences in this realm, seeing our students progress and helping you figure out what is the best fit for you. We are going to hash it all out for you listening, so sit tight and do not forget to hit up our Instagram and DM us any thoughts, questions or reflection you might have!
Utilizing the Right Online Format at the Right Time
A lot of people we know start their entrepreneurial journey with a group coaching program. It is a very common introduction into the world of online business, working for yourself and getting results in a sphere that is new to you. We also feel there is a limit to how far you can go with that format and we all show up differently in public so certain groups can be quite different depending on the participants. Christine shares how she always had more practical questions around actionable steps she needed to take, while other members seemed to need emotional support that she did not! At this point she realized she needed more from the group program but was not going to get it. Let's face it, the format is not great for deep work but at the same time, you can get pretty far with building revenue and consistency. We all feel that when leveling up, you may need more than a coaching group.
The Struggles of Self-Doubt and Perfectionism
It does not matter how capable you are, we all have big struggles around self-doubt! Often, the more ambitious you are the more doubtful you can be and it really is easier for some of us to get over these hurdles than others. Perfectionism can be your enemy here and can keep you stuck in the early stages of your plans. Christine points out, and we agree, that if you are willing to pay for something it really can take you to the next level. It is human nature, we value what we pay for! Skin in the game means a lot, so sometimes it is better to put some money into something we are aiming for. We need more accountability and discomfort so we do not procrastinate and worry our lives away! Believe us when we say that often paying for that course or coach will help you get the result.
The Difference of Working One on One
The main difference with one-on-one programs is an obvious one, they are much more individualized and customized to your needs. This contrasts strongly with group courses which serve more people! In a one-on-one situation, the course can grow and evolve with you, as much as you need it to. Although a lot of us experience similar problems and hurdles, we all go through them at different times and in our own ways, the benefit of a one-on-one class is it caters to this distinction. Therefore if you can think about the one tangible thing you need right now, you can be clearer on which sort of program would be suited to your needs. You have to be honest with yourself and do some soul-searching! If you go into a group program with some very specific and personal requirements, the one-size-fits-all approach might not be fulfilling. We have seen this dynamic go really badly if you have false expectations, so ask yourself what you want to get out of it!
Finding Out Who You Want to Be In Your Business
We also want to remind you that boundaries are important! We have always maintained a strict 'life first entrepreneur' model in our business. You really can hold true to these values and still go very far! From the get-go, you can prioritize what is important to you and build your business from that foundation. Then the health and wellness you value will eventually raise all boats in the harbor! If you look at Abagail's health journey, all areas of her life have improved as she has focused on taking better care of her body. We constantly see messages of hustling and grinding but you can choose success on your own terms! So find the next step that is right for you, there are so many options. It is a constant learning process and we are here to help you as much as possible to take that next step. You got this!
