The Make-or-Break Question to Know if You’ll Succeed with Digital Products

Episode 908: Show Notes

What if I told you that success in business does not have to cost you absolutely everything you value? Too many people believe sacrifice is the only path to success, and that belief might be exactly what’s holding you back. Today, I unpack the one question that will determine whether you’ll successfully transition to a full-time living with digital products without sacrificing your life along the way. Let’s jump straight into it!

The One Non-Negotiable Question You Have to Sit With

Most entrepreneurs unconsciously associate success with sacrifice. They think they have to give up their time, health, or relationships to get to where they want to go. But if you’re going to arrive at the point where you need to be and stay there, you have to believe that it won’t require sacrifice! Rather, trust that it is simply available to you. You don’t have to give up what’s important to you to get there. While giving those things up may enable you to leapfrog faster, it won’t stick.

What Truly Changes When You Realize What You Don’t Have to Sacrifice

Once you wrap your head around the idea that you don’t have to give anything up to get what you truly want, you’ll understand that you can adjust how you show up when you need more bandwidth so that you can prioritize your health. Burnout is not a lack of willpower! It’s your brain’s way of protecting you from the unsustainable patterns you are developing.

Identifying What is Truly Important and Aligning with Your Values

COVID-19 was an awful time filled with so much loss. But the one good thing to come out of 2020 was the opportunity to reflect on what is important. Perhaps for the first time ever, businesses started to restructure to align with their values. Building a business that respects your lifestyle is worth it. There are people making more money than you and working less because they believe that it does not require every ounce of who they are to find success.

Changing Your Limiting Beliefs to Make the Mindset Shift

What do you think the ceiling is? And why is that the case? Worry less about what the ceiling is, and more about what it will require to go beyond it. The further along you get, there will be fewer examples and fewer people to show you that it’s possible to get there. You have to believe it’s possible! Write it out. Put it in your journal. Put it in your notes app! Whatever you need to do, I need you to visualize what’s possible without sacrifice.

What it Looks Like to Find Balance

I’m curious: what does an ideal day look like for you? Once you’ve identified this, it’s not necessarily about getting the life you want but rather about making those changes to the life you are already living. These don’t have to be massive shifts. If you can imagine a world where that scenario is happening, all of a sudden, your mind and your body can speak together and doors begin to open up. But this only sticks if you start adopting strategies that align with your values.

Why You Absolutely Have to Build a Business in Alignment with Who You Are

I value inclusivity, affordability, accessibility, and time. These values define how I built my business. Sustainable systems come from aligning how you work with your values. When you believe success doesn’t require sacrifice, your brain stops resisting and starts creating opportunities. It took me a long time to fully believe that I could have a digital product business where I teach people around the world without sacrifice, but it is such an ideal solution to creating sustainability.
