The Two Elements That Make Up the Magic of Relational Diversity

Researchers have found that there’s a really clear relationship between relational diversity and overall levels of satisfaction. How many kinds of people do you interact with on any given day? The more relationship categories that you talk to on any given day and the more even the conversations are between them, the happier you are. We’ve all been out of balance. Since the pandemic, business owners have been more isolated than ever before. I think the burnout that people are experiencing is not from the work itself. It’s from the lack of connection. It’s not necessarily a shift away from talking to the people you know, but more intentionally pursuing talking to the people you don’t.

So, You’re Talking to Strangers. What Now?

Reaching people outside of your network naturally is going to take a shift. It specifically requires you to make a change in terms of your content, the things that you say, and the way that you introduce yourself. People spend a lot more time playing it safe than trying to intentionally grow in this way. You have to do this in a specific place that is going to organically get you in front of strangers. Right now, my favorite is Instagram Reels. You have to create a natural interaction in an unnatural environment. This is not just to grow your revenue! When you realize the value of each relationship and the opportunity to contribute to someone’s well-being, everything changes.

Seven Ways to Tell Strangers Your Story

Storytelling is such a unique opportunity to really create connections that feel valuable and true. Every story, in some shape or form, has already been told, and they all fit into seven plotlines. A Catalyst Story or an I’m Done Moment asks what sparked the change you experienced. How can you take people into that moment? A Rags to Riches story speaks to where you came from and how you got to where you are today. The Quest is all about the pursuit of a goal and overcoming challenges that pop up along the way. A Side Story is lighthearted. It’s the anecdotes and all the things that make you human. Feedback and Improvement stories center on feedback and areas of improvement. A Tragedy enables you to talk about your failures, and a Risk Story is all about overcoming a monster. What almost shut your doors?

I can’t wait to see how you weave these stories into what you do and how you share them with a world that doesn’t know you yet. This is going to lead to more loyalty and more sales because someone that commits to telling all these types of stories is going to feel vulnerable, upfront, transparent, and real in a way that a lot of businesses are not portraying themselves. This is your opportunity for connection. This is your opportunity to get in front of new people. Find out more here or DM me the word ‘accelerate’ on Instagram and I will send you the details.
