All the New Canva Features that Released in 2021
You don’t need to have been a long time follower of Boss Project to know that we absolutely adore Canva. We use it for so many different purposes in our business, and we have for years! It’s the perfect tool for business owners who want to make quick, beautiful graphics without needing a design background.
This year, Canva has dropped tons of amazing new features that have been absolute game-changers for how you create graphics. We also know that this year has been a time of major comeback for so many business owners, so we wanted to give you a recap of all the new Canva features that were released in 2021!
Major Canva Updates in 2021
There have been some major and minor updates and new features that were released this year, though they’re all equally as exciting!
CANVA VIDEO SUITE
New video editing capabilities were added with the Video Suite, making it easier than ever to edit video content in Canva! They took the most needed features and made the video editing tools very upfront and easy to learn if you’re a total beginner. You’re able to trim, split, and duplicate videos, as well as add and edit audio clips on top. With their wide variety of stock video and audio, you’ll be able to find any sort of clips you need for your projects, or you can upload your own.
CURVED TEXT
Curved text is a feature that many of us Canva fanatics have been waiting for for a very long time, and we were ecstatic to see that Canva released this feature this year! You’d be totally surprised at how using this customization feature for your text can really transform a design.
SHARED FOLDERS
File organization issues, especially with files that have been shared with you, are a thing of the past now that Canva has released a “Shared with you” folder. All designs that someone else has added you to, or you’ve opened via a share link are now added to this folder for quick access and easy finding!
EASILY MATCH IMAGE STYLES TO YOUR DESIGN
Have you ever wanted to use colors in a design that are sourced from an image, but it’s just too difficult to try to find HEX codes in another application? Now, if you add an image to a page, you can right click and select “Apply colors to image” to match the element styles on that page to the image. You can keep selecting it to shuffle the styles until you find an option you like most.
MULTIPLE BRAND KITS
It was a fine day for Canva Pro users when Canva launched the ability to create multiple Brand Kits (up to 100 to be exact. If you’re a designer who works out of your personal Canva account, this is an amazing feature to be able to easily store clients’ brand assets to use in designs, yet keep them separate from your own for organizational purposes.
Minor Canva Updates in 2021
Some new features were less noticeable and easy to miss if you aren’t regularly checking Canva’s updates page. Still, these new minor features are super handy!
COPY AND PASTE PAGES BETWEEN DESIGNS
There’s been plenty of times we wanted to use a specific page from one design in another design, but we didn’t want to have to make a copy of either design and use any more brain power than was necessary. Now, you can simply copy a page (or even just a few elements) from one design and paste it into another!
UPLOAD AND EDIT PDFS
We nearly fell out of our chairs with this one. You can now upload PDF files to Canva, so you can edit the images, fonts, text, and more!
GRID AND LIST VIEWS
If grid views aren’t your thing and you prefer a more minimalistic view, you can now switch to a list view when viewing your designs.
ADD MAILTO LINKS
In your PDF, presentation, or website designs, you can now utilize “mailto:” links to make it simple for viewers to shoot you an email.
GOOGLE SHEETS INTEGRATION
Now when you’re making those stunning charts in Canva, you can reflect accurate data by connecting your Google Sheet account and entering the cells you want to import (for example, “B2:C10”)
CANVA PRO TEAM MEMBERS
