Design a Business That Can Run Without You

Episode 822: Show Notes

Today, I want to talk about why it's super important to strengthen your business so it can handle the unexpected stuff that happens in life. Bad things are gonna happen, it's just a fact. But you don't want your business to rely too much on you to handle all the problems. Personally, I don't want to have to depend on someone else for money, and I bet a lot of you feel the same way. You want your business to stay strong even when life gets challenging. It's not about fixing every problem perfectly; it's about keeping things going smoothly even when things get tough.

The reality is that being a business owner often entails heightened stress levels. The smallest hiccup can throw off your entire day or even jeopardize your long-term plans. These unforeseen events are a part of life, whether you're an entrepreneur or not. So, how do we confront these challenges head-on and safeguard our future success? I understand that many of you yearn for the ability to magically ensure your business's reliability during tough times. And if you're not quite there yet, that's okay! What's important is creating a business model that empowers you to prioritize your goals and can endure your absence if necessary. If you desire a business that can weather such storms, you must be open to making necessary adjustments.

Learning How to Seek Support

Right now, time is gold, even more than cash! To shape the business you're after, you've gotta carve out some time. That means having folks around who vibe with your goals, and serve as a kind of support network. This often starts right at home!

Streamlining your life gives you breathing space and time to work toward your business dreams and still have room for downtime.  Start by pinpointing your top five stressors at home. Clear communication is key. Chat with your loved ones about your business dreamsβ€” they're rooting for you but might not know how to help unless you fill them in. Simply expressing what you need and why can work wonders! It's cool if you're not ready to ask for help outright. Sometimes, it's a good idea to pay for the help you need until you get the hang of asking.

Dreaming Up a Business That Runs on Its Own

You've got the power to set up a business that doesn't rely solely on youβ€”that might seem daunting, but it's doable. You don't have to vanish from the picture entirely. It's about finding a balance between your time and your business's time, depending on your goals and what you want to safeguard against. Picture this: chilling out on a random afternoon without stressing about unfinished tasks. If your business still heavily depends on you, it's no biggie. Loads of businesses start that way. It's a journey to reach a point where it can stand on its own. You know that's the goal, so let's visualize it happening for you!

There are some key things to focus on to make it a reality: streamline your offerings, enlist reliable help, clarify roles and responsibilities, and build a solid team. It won't happen overnight, but it's worth consciously striving for. Why? Because it's the difference between your business being a stable source of income for you and your fam, versus just a passing phase. I want your business to be your financial backbone, supporting your lifestyle and letting you call the shots. And that's only possible if you can picture it and then take the steps to make it happen.

The Absolute First Step You've Got to Take

I know you can think of a million things that you could do, but you also still have to keep running your business and life will continue to happen so I want to give you a very clear framework you can insert so that you can create a business that’s able to withstand all the things you aren’t even anticipating right now. It’s all possible but you do need to take the first step!

Creating a digital product once and being able to sell it again and again is an incredible way to diversify your income. It allows you to bring in sales when you can’t be actively working in your business or spending time with one on one clients directly.  I share everything I know about how to do this effectively in our Digital Product Jumpstart course.  I’m here to help, check it out today!
