24,000 Reasons I’m Bringing Blogging Back

Episode 926: Show Notes

Blogging is not dead! It’s been waiting for small businesses to pick up the torch again and I think now is the perfect time to do it.

Pretty much the only people publishing articles today are either larger businesses, software companies, or the media. There are fewer and fewer creators writing long-form content on the internet than I have seen in my career. Now, when I started this business, I was writing all the time. I was publishing new articles on my blog five days a week.

I had really gotten away from it in 2024, but something happened in my business recently that re-inspired me to take up this untapped opportunity again. Let’s get into why.

How 24 000 Website Visits Made Me Realize That Blogging is Alive and Well

A year ago, I recorded a podcast episode for Christmas Day. It couldn’t be about work, but it had to be interesting, so I interviewed my husband about not having an inner monologue. A year later, the Show Notes had over 24,000 hits—which is wild! So, we did a little digging, and we realized why it was so popular. It answered a burning question, and it became one of the top AI-generated results when people searched for the answer.

What we can learn from this is that search is still a relevant and important way that people can discover your content, and publishing on your own website is one of the only ways that you are going to own all of that content. We all felt it when TikTok shut down for 24 hours — all these creators who had invested time and effort into creating content realized that it could theoretically be wiped out overnight. When you own all your content, you have all the control.

The Main Difference Between Social Media and Blogging

It’s so easy to get caught up in the social media content creation wheel where you’re just churning out new things. I have content I wrote nine years ago that still gets traffic every month of every year. I don’t have a single social media post that’s continued to perform that far after it was published. There’s a lot to be said for volume, but you need to be thinking about what the value of those views actually is.

On social media, people are only consuming your content for a couple of seconds. With blogging, if you’re answering the right question, someone is actively searching for that solution. To have someone on a page of your website for multiple minutes is actually insane. If you’re getting into that multiple-minute mark, you are clearly giving someone something that they need.   People are getting bored with social media — they want more depth, they want more personality, they want more uniqueness. Especially in 2025, we are going to see a resurgence of brands like we have not seen in years.

Embracing the Opportunity to Make Your Authenticity Shine

When someone is consuming long-form content like YouTube videos or podcasting or blogging, they are actively searching for answers. Or, they want to feel understood, or heard, or inspired. AI has changed the way we search: instead of entering keywords, people are naturally typing their exact question as if they were saying it out loud. Today, it’s less about optimizing for search and more about understanding how AI has changed how we search.

People who land on your actual website are your highest-value potential clients. They are the most likely to join your email list and they are the most likely to buy your products and invest in your services. There’s so much potential here, and you get to decide how to fill it. Because so much of what we see today looks like a robot made it, people are beginning to crave things that feel more human. Now is the time to bring your voice and your fresh perspective.

What Blogging Ultimately Gives You the Chance to Do

This is an opportunity to be truly creative and to put your thoughts and ideas into the world. You no longer have the limitations that social media and the algorithms create. You get to choose how you show up. Another thing you can do here is incorporate sales in a much more natural way. You can spend so much more time explaining something or walking someone through a process.

The more specific your content becomes, the bigger the chance you have to succeed at long-form content. Write your offer down and then put all the subtopics around it. What will prove to your audience that you know what you are talking about and that you have more to offer? That alone will give you more ideas than you have time for. You can also answer FAQs or break down a certain system in really simple steps.

My Approach to Blogging In 2025

I’m writing two blogs a month, and I also have other team members who are contributing in other ways. But personally, I am writing two. I have committed to batching my podcast content every other week so that on the off week, I can write a blog post. Right now, I am committed to writing one a week to make that particular blog post particularly useful to you. If you want to start, just commit to one blog post a month and make it count. That’s far better than none! And if you can make it timeless, this is content that will continue to serve you.

When you develop something that is of deep value, you get to repurpose it! And it saves you so much time. I hope this episode inspires you to write! You can see what I’m writing now on the Boss Project Blog. I’m also very excited to be posting new articles and more how-to technical articles on our Creative Template Shop Blog.

If you want to get started blogging, consider what questions your audience is impacted by. Use blogging as a way to support your customers and enhance their experience. Share the things that are meaningful to you. I’m really excited about the type of traffic that’s going to be headed your way super soon!
