Entrepreneur Diaries: 10 Home Office Must Haves

Every home office is different. And depending on your expertise you will need to surround yourself with things that make you productive, happy and inspired. Emylee and I have pretty similar needs/wants/desires, but that doesn’t mean our top 10 must haves are the same. Check out how our lists differ.

Abagail’s 10 Must Have’s

1. Wall of Inspiration
I have always been one to surround myself with pretty things. Whether it is my wall of quotes or my inspiration brand board, you will always find things full of color, energy and a bit of spunk.

2. Post-Its stuck every which way
I use these babies daily! I post my action list at the bottom of my computer and always have my short and long term goals stuck on the right, including social media and email list numbers with date deadlines. I also keep motivational sayings at arms reach. “If you work really hard and you’re kind of amazing, things will happen.”

3. GIANT Glass of Ice Water (the ICE is the most important part)
I quit drinking pop, well, at least for the 3rd time this year. Hoping this time it sticks. The ice cold water keeps me hydrating throughout a long day and is a much better reach that my previous drink of choice.

4. Beagle Babies
Who doesn’t love puppies curled at your feet? I move their beds in my office space and watch them nap like a momma hen.

5. Mac Desktop
This chica is blind! Large screens, vivid colors and high resolution make doing my design job WAY easier!

6. Adobe Creative Suite
I use this puppy daily to design beautiful websites, layout typography and keep the blog up to snuff.

7. Mounds of Office Supplies
My husband says office supplies are more of an addiction than a need. But if you ever have any crafty, DIY or office supply need I probably have you covered. It is totally ok that Gold handled scissors make me smile.

8. Ceiling Fan on jet speed
No need to work up a sweat, just keep it cool!

9. iPhone / iPad
These essentials keep me up to date when I am on the move, at client meetings or at the latest Creative Chics event. Plus it is my favorite way to capture behind the scenes.

10. Photographs of my support team!
I could not do my job without the support of my friends and family. Hence all their beautiful faces lining my desk as daily reminders!

Emylee’s 10 Must Have’s

1. Floods of natural light streaming in from huge windows (absolute must!)
The first thing I do when I walk in my office is open and raise the blinds - sunlight streaming in is the only thing that keeps me alert.

2. A never ending cup of Joe
You would think the coffee would keep me alert, but it's honestly just because I love the taste. I'm one of those weirdos who could drink coffee at every meal.

3. A stool, a pouf and a blanket for my feet
My feet get cold! Sometimes I need the stool to get a better angle for a shot and sometimes the pouf is there just so my little toesies don't get numb and fall off.

4. Approximately 17 notebooks to jot down to-do lists and crazy ideas
I can never keep just one notebook at a time, I always have about 5 that have various scribbles in them.

5. My Mr. fiddle leaf fig tree, succulents and cacti
I love having greenery around. Bonus - if I can keep it alive.

6. Adobe Lightroom
This is my go to for edits and organizing all my images.

7. My Passport external hard drive
I have to purge images from my computer about once a week or it starts to run really slowly. I'm constantly backing up and saving for the unmentionable.

8. iPhone
Based on what I'm styling or working on sometimes I just want a quick iphone snap to share.

9. Essential oil diffuser
Sometimes, I need extra help being motivated or creative. My essential oil diffuser does the trick - I drop in Lemon for energy, Envision for creativity or Believe for motivation and I am good to go!

10. Nikon d600
This is the big mama camera. She comes out multiple times a day and is the muscle behind all the pretty shots you see.
