Use Dubsado Subcontracts to Create and Send Proofs!

In our humble opinion, subcontracts are the underdog of Dubsado forms. Most of the love is given to proposals, questionnaires, and lead capture forms, but subcontracts can also be an amazing asset to your business! If you’re a photographer, wedding planner, brand and web designer, stationery designer, or florist, for example, it’s likely that you need to send proofs of your work for clients to approve.

What better way to do this than to have the legal backup of a subcontract? Since clients need to sign off on them, trust us when we say that this will save you a ton of headache in the future. So, if you want to learn how to create a proof from a subcontract, keep reading!

How Create a Subcontract Proof

It’s actually much easier than you may think to use subcontracts (often called sub-agreements) as proofs for a client’s brand or web design, photos, wedding florals, stationery design, etc. Once you’ve added a few photos and questions, you’re good to know! Here’s how:

START WITH THE BASICS

This is the information that you will obviously need to go in your proof. You most definitely want some kind of heading clearly stating that it’s a “____ Proof” with the client’s name and date below. If you want, you can create fun header and footer graphics to add some pizazz from a branding perspective.

Then, of course, you want to add photos of the proof in question. Make sure they clearly showcase what it is the client needs to sign off on (for example, home page font size and type, color placement, layout, etc.) and are great quality.

ADD YOUR ANSWER BLOCKS

Short answer, long answer, and checkboxes are probably the main (if not only) blocks you’ll use to collect feedback. You can keep this as simple as the client checking off one of three boxes, and then leaving comments in a long answer block, as shown below. From there, they would sign as if it were any other contract, and that’s it!

Make sure you add any necessary disclaimers that you need to be protected legally. For example, a stationery designer or someone who works with prints would likely need a disclaimer that the colors in the photos on-screen may vary and that what is shown may not be an exact representation of what will be printed.
