Roots in Design

You’ve heard how I first started Boss Project with Emylee, but today, I’m reaching back even further to tell my own origin story. As you may already know, I started out primarily in graphic design, working in advertising, the engineering space, and more. That has greatly influenced how Boss Project has been presented over the last eight years and how we serve our audience. The Creative Template Shop is almost entirely made up of design-based products. It’s been hugely critical for us that you feel confident presenting yourself online and behind the scenes.

Supporting a Creative Community

Before Boss Project, there was Think Creative Collective, a Facebook group that consists of more than 30,000 creative entrepreneurs today. This space was started with the goal of building community. In my corporate roles, my voice felt often muted. I personally craved a space where I could feel seen and heard. A lot of people have left Facebook recently. So what does it look like to build community moving forward? That’s top of mind for me as I think about where Boss Project goes next.

An Experimental Mindset for the Future

For the last 24 months, I have been almost exclusively in the finance and sales side of the company. That means creating spreadsheets, thinking about company benefits, sales processes, hiring, HR, and more. So I’ve been a bit out of the marketing game. Marketing is in its most rapid evolution yet and it can be tough to keep up. I simply haven’t been thinking about social media and sales funnels for two years and now I’m excited to dive back in! You can expect experimentation as I get my feet wet; trying and testing different things. It’s going to be focused, it’s going to be intentional, and it’s definitely going to be fun!

Three Difficult Years

In so many ways, life has returned to a ‘new normal,’ but in many others, I’m not the same person I was before the pandemic. For me, these have been the hardest three years of my life. I watched my parents end a forty-year marriage. Simultaneously, my husband and I took on a bigger role as caregivers for Jared’s grandmother in our home. As her needs increased, so did the need for more active day-to-day care. Sadly, after a fall she had to transition to a care facility and shortly after passed away. Now that we’re on the other side of all that, both work and life feel very different.

Responding to Our Changing Industry

Companies are shrinking. Tech companies are laying people off in droves. Hiring is slower than ever, and we are seeing companies we thought would be around forever change course. It’s been really rattling. How does this affect business now? How do we move forward? Innovation is the most critical piece. Companies and people are going to sink or swim and I am here to tread water until I can strategically figure out which stroke to take. The biggest key is to pay attention. If you’re not paying attention, you need to wake up, because things are shifting faster than we’ve ever seen before. We’re paying close attention to what threats AI might pose, and what potential it may bring to Boss Project and the future of our company.

The Incredible Developments We’ve Seen

Being entrepreneurial and experimental is more critical than ever because things are changing so quickly. For the last few years, Boss Project has been focused on business owners that are quite established but need helping taking the next step with their offers, pricing, systems, or team. We have seen the most incredible progress happen for our clients! We’ve seen people make radical changes, leave their corporate jobs, start businesses, and get booked out in less than two months. We always encourage our clients to hone in on what’s important to them, protect their time, and spend more of it on what’s important to them.

Continued Support for Femme Business Owners

The Incubator and C-Suite on Demand aren’t going anywhere. We will continue to focus on them and the incredible results they can bring. Boss Project’s mission has always been to empower femme business founders to support themselves not only financially but soulfully. That’s only possible if you start at the beginning. We see people who are scared to leave the corporate world and execute their business ideas. We see others getting started and are excited but need to get unstuck. There are those who want to jump but feel insecure in their sales process. These are all really critical pieces that determine whether they can support their family or find the financial freedom they are after.

A Preview of Exciting Things to Come

The one thing that we can tell you for sure is that there are extremely exciting changes coming for the Creative Template Shop and our Co-Op Membership! Abagail has so many ideas on how to get you started or unstuck. There’s a sale coming, and a new member’s area is being launched in September. Our team is always thinking about acceleration. We’ve been focusing on serving the people already in our ecosystem. But to really fulfill our mission, we need more visibility. It’s time to impact more people! So you can expect a real rev-up on social media. I’ve gotten the rest I’ve needed and I’m ready to try new things. I’ll be able to participate in more summits, take on speaking engagements, and plenty of things that are so much bigger than that!

Never-Before-Heard Ideas Coming Soon

Scaling a more specific, well-defined service is something that’s been on my mind. My focus is internal. The choices I make need to be in the best interest of my staff and consider Boss Project’s life-first value. I want to create a company that does not have the expectation of working after hours or on weekends!

The Boss Project culture is loyal. We are truly here to support you, and we can’t wait to see where we’re going from here! You all mean so much to me and the team. You have been there for me during the tough times and that’s been critical.
