How to Ease Back into 2019

Episode 298: Show Notes

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another episode! Today we talking about getting back into the swing of things in the new year. We will mostly be talking about our own experiences getting into work-mode after the nice holiday break we had over December. It is quite a personal episode, but we are pretty sure a lot of you out there will be able to relate! It feels quite weird to be back at work after the time off but you know we are excited and pumped up as usual. As you may know, we pretty much took the whole month of December off, which was only possible due to the serious preparation we did throughout the year.

In December we did a total of two interviews, two meetings, and our usual monthly coaching sessions. We did not work on any day to day things and for the most part were able to be lazy, relaxed, and bored as much as we wanted. The one exception was Emylee moving into her new house at the end of the month, which was its own kettle of fish! But all in all, December was the much needed break we both needed after such a busy year. So in this episode we talk about how we prepared for the whole month off, how we are getting into gear now in January, and our intentions and hopes for the year moving forward. Let’s get into it!

Day to Day in December

Emylee admits she was really bored for the first few weeks in December! She was moving into her new house on the 21st, yes, four days before Christmas! But up until that point she was at a bit of a loose end, which was okay. The move did not stop from the 21st until about the 7th of January and is probably the reason she has a cold now. Abagail feels like she relaxed and relaxed and relaxed during the month of December, so much so that she is not even sure what happened to the time. Last year during that period she worked on her own business quite a bit, but this year she just left everything for those weeks, knowing that they would be okay. There were some parties, some podcasts and some sleeping in! We both felt we could not wait to get back into what we do, especially recording these podcast episodes because we missed doing it! Having people and family around the house can be so disruptive and it removes that push towards productivity, now that things have settled we feel ready for full speed ahead! Abagail has also been taking care of her health much more, she and her husband have laid out a diet plan and have started a cleanse and she has lost 15 pounds already! Go Abagail! She is even working out more consistently, what a great start to the year.

Transitioning Back Into Work Mode

It has been a major priority for Emylee to make her new place nice and homey and she has already hung pictures on the walls. This probably comes from her youth where her family moved around a lot, staying in show homes and they got used to setting up nice spaces in the blink of an eye. It is one of the skills she has developed and that is why her new home looks so nice already! This new place has so much more of a permanent feeling than the previous house they were living in and she is just so happy to be able to settle in. There are also adjustments to be made, it is further to the sitter and the amount of time it takes has messed with her routine a bit. But this will all get worked out in time. If it means rearranging the time we start working then so be it!

Being More Present and Better Utilization of Our Content

We are so looking forward to recording new podcasts and also want to do more spontaneous things through Facebook and Instagram. We both feel that it is important to be more present on these platforms as we have neglected them a little bit over the last year. We want to grow our IG following and get back to some FB Live videos with our community. Another thing we have noted is that we have so much content and great material that is just sitting and waiting to be used. Not so long ago we were in Forbes and Inc. and we have hardly utilized those great features! We can be doing so much more with what we already have and hopefully if we spread that information, all of our family will finally understand exactly what we do! Looking forward to 2019, Abagail aims to redefine some of our business so that we can really use the people who we have hired to everyone’s advantage. We want to do more of what we really enjoy and do that work that is so energizing and fulfilling that it drives you onto the next project!

With the lack of routine, we needed to create a very strict routine.
