Work Less Hours In Your Service-Based Business by Eliminating These 3 Huge Time Wasters

Episode 606: Show Notes

One of our biggest pet peeves is watching people let their time escape from them. Time is our most valuable resource, yet it is the thing that we see people giving away freely all the time. In today’s episode, we are going to talk about the three biggest time wasters that really hold service providers back from being more productive. It is possible to work less while earning more at the same time!

There’s a mindset amongst many business owners that if they’re not busy, they’re doing something wrong, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. There are always going to be moments where you’re feeling frazzled and overwhelmed, but that doesn’t have to be your reality all the time. If you listen to this episode and resonate with what we’re saying, go to bossproject.com/incubator to sign up for our How to Double Your Income Working Less than 20 Hours Per Week workshop; you won’t regret it!

Our Take on “Getting Stuff Off Your Plate”

You’re not that good at all the things you’re doing. Sorry if that is hard for some of you to hear, but it’s the truth. There are things that you are brilliant at, and you should keep doing those. But then there are things that you really should not be wasting your time on, and instead, you should be implementing automated systems, or hiring other people to do it for you.

We too often hear the phrase, “I don’t have time to make time.” If you keep saying that, that is going to be your reality, but we’re here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be that way. If you can change your mindset to understand that you don’t have to have your finger on every single button in your business, we can help you take your business to the next level!

Benefits of the Hybrid System That We Use at Boss Project

Our happy sauce is a hybrid of manual and automated systems. In the last 90 days, we’ve grown our MRR by 25%, we’ve brought on and trained four new team members, and we’ve made a massive shift in the systems behind our business. In the last 30 days, our ten-person team has completed 24,000 tasks, but we all have more time on our hands than ever before because of the systems that we have put in place! We had a day where we did absolutely everything manually and on that day everything felt like an emergency. But since we put proper systems in place, we don’t ever have to worry about the little things that just take up unnecessary space in our heads, and we can put all of our time and energy into the places that matter.

Learning How To Set Boundaries

Understanding your boundaries, communicating those clearly to the people around you, and staying true to them are some of the key pieces involved in running a successful business that makes you feel fulfilled. It took us a long time to learn how to do this, but now it’s one of our superpowers! Your business should be built on a foundation of your boundaries. If you haven’t set up boundaries in your business, you’ll end up feeling frustrated and resentful towards the systems or the people around you, and putting the blame elsewhere, where in fact, all you need is a bit more structure and a few more boundaries. In this episode, we’re going to share some of the boundaries that we’ve set in our business, but there are so many different ways of doing things, and you have to figure out what works for YOU. Don’t let anyone else dictate what boundaries you should be putting in place; it’s a personal decision!

Doubling Down Instead of Diversifying

Are you running two businesses at the same time? We know from first-hand experience how that can happen without you even realizing it. It’s easy to convince yourself that when something is working well, you should diversify in order to do better and make more. But in fact, there are so many ways to iterate and build on and perfect your original offering that diversification is often not the way to go, and doubling down is more likely than not the option that is going to take you where you want to be!
