Something we’ve noticed is overlooked by many new or growing business owners is creating brand values. You may think since your business is small or because you may not have a team, that means they aren’t important at the moment, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. So often when starting a creative service-based business, you start to feel disconnected with the reason you even started your business in the first place. Let me ease your troubled heart for a bit. Oprah never knew she was going to be Oprah. Beyoncé didn’t know she was going to be Beyoncé. Mark Zuckerberg didn’t know he was going to invent Facebook. And Steve Jobs, had no idea what Apple would become. 

When I started my business, I knew that my daughter, Olivia, would be involved somehow. I had always included her in “big girl” things (age appropriately, of course!). She was my little sidekick, so I ended up naming the company after her. Over the years, I have been surprised by how much of the business she has been interested in. She has learned so much from being involved, and I am here to encourage you to involve your kids in your business, too.
